Franks School of Education has a long tradition of preparing highly effective future teachers. The program meets the State of Indiana Teaching Licensure Standards and standards for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). Students are required to complete extensive field experiencesthroughout their programs which give them direct contact with today's classrooms. Majors within the FSOE are: Elementary education, licensure in grades K-6; Mathematics, grades 5-12, Science/chemistry, grades 5-12, Science biology/life science, grades 5-12, Social Studies, grades 5-12, and Health and Physical education, grades P-12.
Our faculty come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences all related to classroom teaching, advanced research, and preparing future teachers. This experience is the foundation for an academically rigorous teacher education program that focuses on the most up-to-date curriculum, instructional strategies, classroom management designs, and technology used in classrooms today. Students spend nearly 200 hours in field experiences prior to graduation.
Graduates have a high level of job placement, running between 95 and 100% every year. In addition to classroom teaching, students have obtained other educationally related positions, and still others go on to complete master's degrees. Feedback from school administrators consistently refers to how well the Trine teacher education graduates are prepared to begin teaching from day one in the classroom and how effective these teachers are far beyond graduation.
