Requirements
The Mathematics Major Curriculum
The curriculum requires the completion of 120 hours of course work. The average course load is 15-16 hours based on eight semesters. In the degree program description that follows, an asterisk (*) indicates those courses that satisfy Trine's general education requirements.
Bachelor of Science in Mathematics – 120 hours
*Written Communication – 6 hrs.
*Oral Communication – 3 hrs.
*Social Science & Humanities – 18 hrs.
*Computer Literacy – 2-3 hrs.
*Mathematics & Science – 10 hrs.
*Other - (Courses must be chosen from the above categories.) – 0-1 hr.
*Health & Physical Education – 2 hrs.
*Freshman Studies – 1 hr.
Mathematics Core – 38 hrs.
Directed Electives – 22-25 hrs.
General electives– 14-16 hrs.
(Electives are determined in consultation with an advisor and based on student career objectives.)
