Thunder Baseball Coaching Staff
Head CoachGreg Perschke Coach Greg Perschke became the head coach of the Thunder program in 2002. Perschke led the Thunder in 2010 to a third place finish in the MIAA. Coach Perschke brings nine years of experience as a professional pitcher to the program. He primarily works with the pitchers, catchers and handles all recruiting. He spent most of his professional baseball career with the Chicago White Sox organization. Perschke was drafted three straight years before signing with the White Sox after being taken in the 24th round out of the University of New Orleans in 1989. Perschke was drafted out of the played eight total seasons in the minors, including five seasons at AAA spending time with the Cubs, Dodgers, Indians and White Sox. He received a bachelor’s degree in communications from UNO in 1998. Greg resides in Angola with his wife, Trisha and their daughter, Brookston and son Brock. |

Assistant CoachBrett Ratcliffe Brett Ratcliffe begins his first season as an assistant at Trine where he will be in charge of working with the hitters, catchers and outfielders.
Ratcliffe spent the previous 15 years in the high school coaching ranks. Ratcilffe spent five years as the pitching and catching coach at DeKalb High School, where they were the 2010 NHC Co-Conference Champions. Prior to that, Ratcliffe was the Head coach at Garrett for 7 seasons where they won the ACAC Conference in 2006. His first coaching stop was at Homestead, where he spent three seasons as the hitting and catching coach.
Ratcliffe has been involved with USA Baseball since 2002 as a coach on the NABF National Team, spending 2006 as a scout and evaluator. In 2009, Ratcliffe was the pitching and coaching coach for the USA 14U National Team that won gold at the Pan-Am games in Ecuador. Ratcliffe also worked with the 2010 team that took home the bronze at the Pan-Am games in Nicaragua. Currently serving on the Advisory Staff for USA Baseball, Ratcliffe works as a scout/evaluator at different events and camps throughout the United States.
During his playing days, Ratcliffe spent two seasons at Purdue University and before wrapping up his collegiate career at IPFW and signing a free agent contract with the Richmond Roosters of the Frontier League. Ratcliffe graduated from St. Francis College (’98) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education.
Ratcliffe resides in Garrett with his wife Stacy and sons, Blake and Easton.
