Engineering program receives $1.5m endowment

ANGOLA, Ind. – A generous alumnus recently designated a $1.5 million endowment gift to benefit the engineering program at Trine University.

The endowed pledge, given by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, is to enhance studies in the Allen School of Engineering & Technology. The donor spent his career in the aeronautics industry.

"We are grateful because this significant pledge will help us continue to attract top-notch engineering students," said VK Sharma, dean of the Allen School of Engineering & Technology. "The gift will enable us to maintain our proud tradition of graduating world-class, work-ready engineers."

The pledge is designated to be used for the development of laboratory facilities, the hiring or retaining of outstanding academic faculty or for the enhancement of curriculum.

"We are thankful for this donor's foresight," said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine president. "This donor recognizes the value of his education and acted to ensure new generations will undergo the same rigorous academics that set him on the road to success."

"The timing is also beneficial because as we envision a future campaign the primary focus would be endowment," Brooks said.
