Trine event in 42nd year

 

March 26, 2010--Trine University’s International Student Association will team with several other student organizations and departments to welcome students, faculty, staff and the Angola community to the 42nd annual International Night at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 10.

Visitors will enjoy a global bazaar in the University Center mall, filled with music, food, exhibits, activities and entertainment from the countries of Trine University students. The cultural celebration will end with performances by Trine students and staff, followed by a professional Latino dance at 7 p.m. in Fabiani Theatre.

An admission fee of $2 for Trine students and children 12 and under and $6 per community member will generate funds to help those affected by the earthquake in Haiti. The fee will allow visitors to sample all the international foods, take part in activities and events at all booths and view the cultural celebration in the theater.

Countries/Regions/Tribes represented will be Argentina, China, Bolivia, India, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Mexico, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Saipan, Sweden, England, Panama, Syria, Potawatomi, Jamaica, Nigeria, Liberia, Czech Republic and Russia.

Caricatures, henna tattooing, Chinese, Korean and Arabic calligraphy, Southeast Asian face painting, international jewelry, Native American pottery, Japanese marble paper, Reiki massage, chain mail, cultural exhibits, arts and crafts, and food samples, displays and demonstrations will be offered at the bazaar, along with Study Abroad information for students.
