Trine, Fifth Third Bank offer challenge
to create business, technology concepts
Program includes scholarships,
awards for prizes in 2 categories
ANGOLA, Ind. – Strap on those thinking caps because Trine University’s Innovation One is partnering with Fifth Third Bank to challenge and reward individuals in the region to develop new ideas in business and technology.
Fifth Third Bank, Indianapolis, is supporting the five-year challenge with a $100,000 gift for awards and scholarships.
Those who enter in the technology ideas category are encouraged to think about technological inventions or advances while those who enter in the business/entrepreneurial ideas category should visualize a new idea or service. Cash prizes will be awarded for first through third place in each category. First place is worth $2,500, with $1,000 for second and $500 for third, all courtesy of Fifth Third Bank.
Entries will be accepted Jan. 1 through March 1, and entry details will be released in the fall. A panel of judges will preview proposals and select finalists who will present their ideas in April. Winners will be publicly announced.
“We hope folks in the community and region will share our enthusiasm for this great opportunity,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine president. “Our experience through Innovation One has proven that we are surrounded by ingenious and talented individuals and we invite them to take the Fifth Third challenge.”
The Trine University Innovation Challenge presented by Fifth Third Bank will be open to regional and community residents and Trine faculty, students and staff. The challenge will begin this fall.
“Fifth Third Bank is pleased to partner with Trine University to nurture creativity and advance the region,” said Natalie Guzman, senior vice president of Marketing & Public Relations for the bank. “We look forward to seeing the new ideas and concepts that students and residents are sure to generate.”
