Alden brings MIAA experience to Trine

Trine welcomes new sports information director

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University is welcoming a new sports information director this week.


 
Brian Alden comes to Trine after spending a year at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Adrian College, where he served as the assistant sports information director.
 


“I’m excited for the opportunity and look forward to sharing the future successes of Thunder teams, coaches and athletes with the media and community,” Alden said. “Trine has experienced tremendous growth academically and athletically, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the future.”


 
Alden earned a bachelor’s degree in 2006 from Northern Kentucky University a master’s degree with a concentration in sport business administration at Xavier University in 2009.


 
“We are glad to have Brian join our staff.  The Trine athletic program continues to enjoy great success,” said Trine athletic director Jeff Posendek. “The experience and knowledge Brian brings certainly will add to the program, which in turn, will help promote the many accomplishments of our teams, coaches and student athletes.”
 


After graduation, Alden served in the sports information office at Xavier and completed a communication internship with the American Junior Golf Association. He then spent two years as a marketing assistant at the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati, Ohio.


 
Alden then made the move to Adrian College, where he was in charge of 17 athletic teams in 14 different sports. He played a role in hosting several conference tournaments at Adrian, including the 2011 NCAA Division III Adrian Softball Regional, where the Thunder finished third. Alden served as the statistician for the semi-finals and finals of the 2010 Michigan High School Athletic Association Volleyball Championship.
