Trine dedicates Jack and Sue Shaw Press Box

ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University honored Jack and Sue Shaw during the dedication ceremony for the Jack and Sue Shaw Press Box Oct. 1 in Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.

“Again and again, Jack and Sue have invested in Trine because they believe in this university,” said Trine University president Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D. “Jack joined the board of trustees in 2005, and since then, he can hardly stay away from campus. Sue has been actively engaged by serving as a member of our Scholarship Gala Committee, which, heading into its ninth year, has raised nearly $1 million to support student scholarships at Trine.”

Jack Shaw grew up in Auburn and worked at the Indiana Power and Light Company. At the insistence of his parents, he went to college at Purdue University to study electrical engineering. There, he also met his wife, a home economics major, and they graduated in 1962. More than 30 later, Purdue awarded him an honorary doctorate in engineering.

Shaw went on to work for Hughes Electronics Corporation, where he later became president and chief executive officer. He received multiple awards for his work in the telecommunications industry, including the U.S. Ambassador to India’s Award for Distinguished Service in 1997.

“Jack and Sue Shaw have been relentless in their support of Trine University,” Brooks said. “They have played an instrumental role in Trine’s growth in the last few years and are an integral part of this institution’s future because they are the kind of people that don’t just have a vision … they go after it. That is what we’re about here at Trine, having a vision and making it happen.”
