Greeks help area organizations for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

Sorority and fraternity members at Trine were out in full force during Trine’s first Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in January.

Members did everything from transporting coats to painting to interacting with seniors. Other groups and individuals on campus also participated in volunteer activities.

Take a quick peek at some of the good deeds Greeks performed to honor the memory of MLK.

  • Acacia fraternity members cleaned at the Angola Masonic Lodge.
  • Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity performed a variety of efforts including tutoring at Angola Middle School, cleaning at the YMCA and work at a thrift store.
  • Kappa Beta Gamma sorority sisters helped with Special Olympics.
  • Kappa Sigma members organized and folded clothes at Project Help, where they also loaded a couple of trailers and assisted with assorted tasks.
  • Phi Kappa Theta fraternity members moved coats for the Mount Zion United Methodist Church’s Coat Bank and helped with cleaning and maintenance at the YMCA.
  • Sigma Phi Epsilon members played bingo with residents at the Lakeland Nursing Home.
  • Theta Phi Alpha sorority volunteered for Women in Transition and helped at the Steuben County Humane Society.
  • Three sororities, Gamma Phi Epsilon, Phi Sigma and Kappa Sigma Alpha, painted at RISE, Inc.
