“There are no magic wands, no hidden tracks, and no secret handshakes that can bring you immediate success, but with time, energy and determination you can get there.” – Darren Rowse, Professional Blogger

A decade ago, if Trine University wanted to contact alumni, we had to invest a small fortune into direct mailings. A few years ago, we were able to more easily contact you through e-mail, but people didn’t keep the same e-mail account for more than a couple years before switching their address (by the way,  if you need to update your e-mail with us you can visit this page). Now, thanks to technological advances far superior to e-mail, we are also able to connect with our alumni via social media outlets like Facebook and LinkedIn.

Our Facebook group, Trine University Alumni, has nearly 600 members, and it’s growing daily. The Facebook group is a great way to keep up with campus news and events. Event invitations are created for all alumni activities including regional and scholarship events. Visit the group today to RSVP for the Alumni & Friends Golf Outing, or the regional mix & mingles happening later this summer.

New to the group this year is Flash Back Friday! Each Friday, I post a picture and invite you to post memories relating to the photo. I encourage you to join the group today and join in on the fun of sharing your memories of your time on campus.

I invite you to share your ideas for what you would like to see in the Facebook Group!  It is our goal to engage with our alumni as much as possible, and this can only be done with input from you! So, what is it? More photos? Trine Trivia? Alumni in the news? Share your ideas—we want to hear them!

LinkedIn is a social media site great for professional development. There are several TSC/TSU/Trine groups you can join, each offering professional networking opportunities. Join university groups to learn about job openings posted by career services, and meet other university alumni in your field. You may even stumble across an old classmate that you’ve been wondering about for some time.

Whichever social media site(s) you use, I encourage you to lookup Trine University. The office of alumni & development has accounts on Facebook and LinkedIn, but Trine University is active on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Pinterest, foursquare, and Smug Mug.

Racheal Benner (click name to connect through Linkedin), '12, is excited to meet Trine University alumni. Please contact her at
