The interdisciplinary courses at Trine prepare students in environmental science and human biology, microbe, plant and animal biology, and molecular biology, as well as technological, instrumental, and laboratory oriented fields.

The biology curriculum has been designed to provide a thorough education in the classic principles and techniques of the biological sciences and to relate and apply them to contemporary issues and problems.

Opportunities to explore both laboratory and field biology are abundant. Students have published and presented papers on their research at state and national meetings. Students participate in research projects during their senior 2009 Trine University students participate in Wetland Initiative internship.year, often in partnership with local companies, organizations, and research laboratories. During this period, students often complete internships with their future work organizations or gain valuable practical experience in their field.

Biology majors also are invited to become members of the local chapter of the Tri-Beta Biological Society. Tri-Beta sponsors trips, special events, and student educational programs. Local Tri-Beta chapter sponsors awards at the Northeastern Indiana Tri-State Regional Science Fair every spring.
