Trine student is Cadet of the Year

Freshman receives additional award

May 7, 2010--Trine freshman criminal justice major Annalisa Krug earned the Notre Dame Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) Cadet of the Year award for 2009-2010, and the Roberge Award for outstanding leadership and commitment to the program.

The ROTC Cadet of the Year is awarded by the Chief of Staff, AFP and Commanders of Major Services for outstanding achievements for the year as student, cadet/cadette or private citizen; for outstanding performance of duties and high scholastic records as a cadet/cadette for the last three semesters, including the fourth year of high school; and for traits and characteristics related to personal appearance, oral communication and general knowledge.

Krug was also presented with the Captain Paul Roberge Memorial Award, given to the outstanding Air Force ROTC senior cadet that exemplifies the Air Force core values of integrity, service and excellence.

Walt Lilley, former Tri-State University baseball coach, military veteran and longtime friend and supporter of the university, now Trine, serves as chauffeur and mentor to the cadets. “His contributions have been instrumental to the success of this startup program,” said Dr. David Finley, Vice President for Academic Affairs for Trine. Trine established the ROTC cadet program at Notre Dame in 2007.

“We are extremely proud of all of our ROTC cadets, who have represented Trine in exemplary fashion,” Dr. Finley said. “We are pleased to be a participant in this outstanding educational collaboration with the U.S. Air Force.”
