Bishop directs OrthoWorx

Brad Bishop, executive director for OrthoWorx, will be the first guest in Trine University’s 2010-11 Distinguished Speaker Series. Bishop will speak Friday, Oct. 8 from 3-4 p.m. in Fabiani Theatre during the university’s Homecoming weekend Oct. 8 and 9. A reception with light refreshments will follow Bishop’s speech.

OrthoWorx is a Warsaw, Ind.-based industry, community and education initiative to advance and support growth and innovation within the region’s uniquely concentrated, globally significant orthopedics device sector.

Bishop will discuss the orthopedic industry in Indiana, its importance to the economy of the Warsaw region and entire state, and the direction of the industry. Prior to his appointment as executive director for OrthoWorx, was public affairs director for the orthopedic company Zimmer Holdings Inc., in Warsaw, where he worked since 1988.

As public affairs director, Bishop supervised internal and external communication, corporate philanthropy, community affairs and state and local government relations. He also served as treasurer of the Zimmer Political Action Committee.

Bishop has served on various associations and civic boards throughout his career, including the Indiana Health Industry Forum; Kosciusko Development Inc.; the YMCA of Kosciusko County; the Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau; the Orthopedic Capital Foundation; and the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, over which he now presides. He is also past president of the board of directors of the United Way of Kosciusko County.

“The orthopedics device industry has a remarkable impact on the economy of northeast Indiana and the entire state,” said Trine Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. David Finley. “We are excited to have a key spokesperson on campus to share his expertise and an analysis of the industry’s promise for the future.”
