Scholarship Golf Classic
swings again

ANGOLA, Ind. – More alumni and friends are swinging for scholarships for Trine University students. Trine’s fourth annual Scholarship Golf Classic raised nearly $30,000 for the Trine Student Scholarship Fund.

Fourteen golf teams from around the country played a four-person scramble format at the Ritz-Carlton Members Club in Sarasota, Fla., on Jan. 26.

Premier sponsors included Bon Appetit Management Co., AMI Investment Management, National Network of Digital Schools Management Foundation and Jim Ingledue Construction Inc.

More than 56 golfers took to the course, and the winning score of 60 was carded by a team of Tri-State Kappa Sigmas with Dave Ballinger, BSBA ’70, of Angola, Keith Turner, BSME ’76, of Angola, and Jim Sexton, BSBA ’69, of East Amherst, N.Y.

The second-place team, with a score of 62, was comprised of Kenn Shelton, BSADE ’59, of Venice, Fla., and his guests, Ken Mannino, Rob McCoy and Jack McFaul.

The third-place team, with a score of 64, was comprised of Kappa Sigma Steve LaHood, BSBA ’70, of Sarasota, Fla., Alpha Sigma Phi John Goudy, BSBA ’70, of Angola, John Stock, BSBA ’71, of Angola, and John Smith.  

The day also included on-course contests. Turner won closest to the pin, and Sig Ryan, wife of trustee Cliff Ryan, won longest drive.
