Trine to host cheer, dance combo camp this summer
ANGOLA, Ind. — The National Dance Alliance (NDA) and the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) have selected Trine University as the location for their only Indiana combo camp this summer.
The camp, which has a rock and roll theme, will be July 29 to Aug. 1 and is open to any high school cheer or dance team. Cheerleaders and dancers from the same school can attend the camp separately while at the same location.
“We are so excited to have the NCA and NDA on campus,” said Kristina Johnson, Trine’s director of conferences and events. “In keeping with the theme of the camp, we want people to have a rockin’ good time at Trine.”
NCA staff is hand-selected from across the country and are AACCA certified and complete mandatory training each year. While at camp, each cheer team will have its own NCA staff member to guide them through its camp experience. Curriculum highlights for cheerleaders include spirit dance, sideline spirit, core stunts, pyramid class, jumps, dances and game day cheers and chants.
Dancers can take technique classes and receive custom coaching and feedback. They can also learn about performance preparation and music charting.
Teams who attend the camp have the option of staying in air-conditioned apartment-style housing.
