South Bend welcomes new director

Business, education set perfect foundation for new director

 

ANGOLA, Ind. –Jeanie Ruppert-Boling believes her experiences in education and business provide the perfect combination for her new role as the campus director at Trine University’s South Bend Regional Campus.

An Indiana native, Ruppert-Boling graduated from Ball State University and started her career teaching fourth grade, before taking a job as a music specialist in the Kennewick School District in Washington state. After nearly two decades, she worked in business and retail, where she was in charge of budgets, recruiting staff, marketing, business plans and more. Her creative approach to selling slow-moving inventory resulted in a 50 percent increase in profits for one business.

She ventured into higher education in 2010 as an admissions representative, engaging with and working with students in a two-year college setting. In 2011, she came to Trine to work as a student support specialist. She recruited, interviewed and enrolled adult students into degree programs that would meet their needs and help them reach their goals.

“While I do have a background in education, I believe that my drive and enthusiasm for creating systems of organization, building structure, and providing extraordinary service, comes from owning and operating my franchise,” Ruppert-Boling said.

In her new role as director, she hopes to continue to provide high-quality education by employing accomplished and talented faculty. She wants to make transitions to college for working adults as seamless as possible.

“Our students are our guests on campus for a short period of time,” Ruppert-Boling said. “They are instilling their trust in Trine University and are choosing to become a part of the Trine family.  It is our responsibility on the South Bend Regional campus to assist the students as they earn their degrees and move forward in their careers.”

Ruppert-Boling earned her bachelor’s degree at Ball State University and her master’s degree from Heritage College in Washington State. She is an active member of the community, volunteering her time with Rotary International and Mu Phi Epsilon.

“Jeanie has set high standards and goals for herself and the campus,” said dean of Trine’s School of Professional Studies David Wood. “She hopes to help even more adults complete their educations or start working toward a degree. Her experiences in the business and education arenas make her the perfect fit for this position.”

Trine University has had a presence in the South Bend area since the mid-1990s. The campus is now located in Mishawaka and offers associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees with several majors.
