Indianapolis branch campus opens
Trine gives students 'the edge'
IINDIANAPOLIS — Trine University’s School of Professional Studies collaborated with Harrison College to open a new branch campus in downtown Indianapolis at the end of September.
The partnership will give students opportunities to pursue bachelor’s degrees from Trine after earning associate’s degrees from Harrison College.
“Lots of schools have articulation agreements, but we are probably two of the first schools in the nation to work together in the same facility toward a common goal,” said David Wood, dean of Trine’s School of Professional Studies. “This is good for both schools and for students. It’s true collaboration.”
Trine plans to continue their aggressive approach to serving the needs of adult students, statewide, Wood said. The university already has a presence in Angola, South Bend/Mishawaka, Columbus, Fort Wayne, Logansport and Schererville and will open at least three more sites this year.
In Indianapolis, students can major in management, psychology, business administration, criminal justice and emergency management. They also can pursue master’s degrees in criminal justice and leadership.
The university offers small classes taught by working professionals, Wood explained.
“We provide our students individualized attention through faculty with real-world experience,” Wood said. “We serve adults looking to earn or complete a degree, move up in the workplace or transition to a better job, giving them the edge.”
Through Trine’s Roadmap to Success program, Harrison associate degree graduates with a grade-point average of at least 3.0 will be eligible for discounted tuition when they transfer into a bachelor degree program at any Trine SPS or Harrison College location. Trine academic advisers will assist transfer students in creating an education plan with a guaranteed graduation date.
Another benefit of the collaboration between Trine University and Harrison College is the plan to co-develop curriculum and degree offerings to better support students needs.
