Veterans Day means free admission

Vets can watch Trine Thunder
battle Alma College Scots

ANGOLA, Ind. – Veterans Day on Saturday at Trine University means vets get free admission to the final football game of the season.

In honor of Veterans’ Day on Monday, veterans with proof of service will be admitted to the game for free.

Trine Thunder, fresh off a 49-21 win last Saturday (Nov. 3) over rival Olivet College, will close its season when it hosts Alma College. The action begins at 1 p.m. at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium. The gate opens at noon.  And, Trine’s marching band and cheer and dance squads will be in action to fire up the fans.

“We are honored and privileged to host veterans as a way to tip our hat to these men and women and their contributions to the nation and our community,” said Trine president Earl D. Brooks III, Ph.D. “We hope all area vets can come out and join us as we pay tribute.”

An additional selling point for the special day might be the weather: AccuWeather predicts a weekend warm-up with the temperature climbing to 59 degrees on Saturday under sunny skies with a few clouds.

Also being honored on Saturday are Trine’s senior members of the football, cheer and dance squads and marching band.

Tickets (cash only) for nonveterans are $8 for adults, $3 for students and free for seniors 65 and older and children 12 and younger.
