Trine alumni respond to successful industry night
ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University alumni stepped forward Oct. 19 during the 2011 Career Services Industry Night, which was spearheaded by career services assistant director Terry Johnson.
Approximately 200 students were treated to corporate presentations in Fabiani Theatre by Beckman Coulter (Indianapolis); Biomet (Warsaw, Ind.); Commonwealth Engineers (Indianapolis); Cummins (Columbus, Ind.); GE Aviation (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Parker Hannifin (Syracuse, Ind.). The presentations educated students about various industries and opportunities.
Seven graduates and current co-op students represented four of the six companies that presented.
Austen Davenport, DET ’09, is entering his third year at Biomet as a hip product development engineer with Biomet Orthopedics. Stephen Otts, ME ’09, began his career as an innovation fellowship mechanical engineer and is now a research and design-hardware engineer with Next Generation Automation Team.
Matt Davis, ME and EA ’06, is a senior mechanical engineer in the molecular diagnostics instrument division of Beckman Coulter in Indianapolis.
Jennifer Guard, ChE ’02, is a materials research and development engineer at Parker Hannifin. She developed elastomeric compounds for seals used in biodiesel, coolant and high temperature applications. Tim Heiman, ME ’05, is a research and design engineer at Parker Hannifin and primarily focuses his work in the oil and gas industry.
Joshua Miller, ME/AE ’07, is the air handling systems team leader for Cummins Mid-Range Engineering.
Following short presentations, students visited and networked with representatives during a meet-and-greet session.
Career services will host the fourth annual Career and Internship Fair on Feb. 2, 2012, in the University Center Mall. Between 40 and 50 companies are expected to participate in this year’s program.
