I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and my Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. My areas of expertise are motor control, biomechanics, research methods, and applied statistics.

My scholarly agenda primarily focuses on identifying neuromuscular factors that contribute to acute and overuse lower extremity injury among active individuals, such as athletes, recreational and competitive runners, and tactical athlete populations (e.g., military personnel and firefighters). I also investigate the effects of novel forms of movement pattern re-training, such as real-time visual feedback, with the goal of minimizing high-risk movement patterns. I have published over 50 papers in PubMed-indexed journals and regularly present my work at national conferences, such as the APTA’s Combined Sections Meeting. In addition, I have authored a textbook on the topic of applied statistics, as well as another book on study strategies for health professions students.

I really enjoy helping students discover their own passions and sense of curiosity. It’s what makes teaching fun.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my daughter Grace, son Jack, wife Sarah, and dog Hutch (a golden retriever lab mix for those who love dogs). I also enjoy reading, writing, and being outdoors.
