In 1997, I received my Bachelor of Science from University of Washington in cell molecular biology. I have always had a strong interest in science and worked in a bio-tech laboratory during my undergraduate years. After graduation, I began working in a level three trauma center emergency department as a technician. There I found my true passion in medicine and became familiar with the physician assistant career. I directed my education toward that goal and graduated from Western Michigan University with a Master in Medicine in physician assistant studies in 2002.
I began my career as a physician assistant in family medicine. After two years, I changed paths and worked in urgent care, emergency and orthopedics. In 2010, I purchased a small family practice. For nine years, I practiced family medicine through my practice until I sold it last year.
I am very family-oriented and love spending time with my husband, our three children and our two grandchildren. We enjoy being outside boating, biking, running and swimming. Giving back to our community, especially through youth enrichment, has always been important to my family. In addition to volunteering in the school district, my husband and I directed the local youth soccer association for five years. In our new hometown, we continue our dedication to the youth in our community by volunteering in our church's youth program.
