Summary

This position is responsible to ensure that the appearance of Trine Properties meet the standards established by the University and implementation of the Grounds Department Grounds Management Program. Trine properties include main campus grounds, athletic fields, golf course and residential properties.

 Essential Responsibilities

  • Annually update the Grounds Department Master Plan
  • Annually update the Grounds Department Landscaping Master Plan
  • Develop, implement, and monitor quality control program for Trine Properties
  • Develop and implement turf care and fertilization program for Trine Properties
  • Develop, implement, and monitor snow removal processes
  • Responsible for maintaining proper staffing levels for each season and zones
  • Maintain underground irrigation systems
  • Ability to interact and communicate with Administration, faculty, staff, students, and guests
  • Develop, implement, and monitor artificial turf care program for football field
  • Coordinate annual testing and cleaning of artificial turf
  • Manage the financials for the department (invoice processing, inventory control, budget preparation, expense tracking, projections, advance ordering)
  • Manage the implementation of the ground’s management plan
  • Provide equipment life cycle and capital needs report
  • Responsible for development, implementation of required environmental programs (EPA, MS4, Pesticide applications)
  • Submit semi-annually the MS4 environmental information to the City of Angola
  • Responsible for managing grounds department projects
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of new safety programs for department
  • Organize and conduct monthly safety meeting for grounds department
  • Create and/or maintain SDS manual for all chemical use in department
  • Responsible for new employee search and onboarding process
  • Oversees the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish specified projects
  • Inspects daily all areas to evaluate how well management and quality standards are being achieved
  • Acquires equipment and purchases necessary supplies to maintain all properties.
  • Responsible for all inventory control and overseeing the equipment maintenance
  • Conduct employee performance reviews
  • Keep accurate and complete records on inventory, payroll, weather data, maintenance procedures, pesticide applications, fertilizer applications, etc.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheers (SDS) manual
  • Review field care plans annually with athletic director
  • Communicate with head golf professional as well as other sport coaches and athletic director weekly in season and as needed in the off season
  • Plan and direct plans for all snow removal to provide for a clean and safe campus properties for all students, faculty and staff

 Education/Experience 

A degree in Agronomy and/or Turfgrass Management, Landscape Architect or seven years work experience on golf course, athletic fields, or campus grounds. Pesticide applicator license category 3B
