How pleasing it is to see a student succeed, and how gratifying it is to lead him to success! Teaching has been my passion, and I have particularly loved teaching math.

I am an applied mathematician, currently working as a professor and chair of the Mathematics and Physics Department. I also am director of Study Abroad, and president of the faculty (second two-year term ending in April 2020) at Trine University. I have served (2017- 2023) on the national Editorial Board for Classroom Resource Materials of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), as secretary (second three-year term ending in June 2019) of the  Indiana MAA, as an elected Councilor (second three-year term ending in June 2021) in the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR), and as a founding member (2014 – present) of CUR’s Strategic Pillars Taskforce on Internationalization. I continue to serve (2018 – present) as a mentor in the Early Career Mathematicians program of the MAA, as a liaison (2013 – present) to the Fulbright Scholar Program, and as an advisor and a National Selection Panel member (2015 – present) of the Gilman Scholarship Program. I feel very humbled and blessed to have been honored with several teaching, service and scholarship awards, including the MAA Distinguished Professor of Mathematics (Indiana-2016).

Treating myself as a student has always helped me learn and become a better teacher.  I greatly enjoy helping my students and equally enjoy learning from them. I have worked on special functions of applied mathematics, with emphasis on elliptic integrals, and am interested in a wide variety of mathematical applications. I love nature, outings with my family, and gardening.
