Specialty: Random Graph Theory, Random Matrix Theory, Probability
I am a Professor of Mathematics at Trine University. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics from Pusan National University in Busan, South Korea, where I focused on abstract algebra and delved into tropical geometry, a branch of algebraic geometry. During that time, I also pursued independent research in graph theory.
Driven by a desire to explore other areas of mathematics, I pursued my doctoral studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. During my Ph.D. journey, I was introduced to Random Matrix Theory, which, along with Random Graph Theory, has become my primary area of expertise. Given their strong connections to Probability Theory, I often describe my specialty as Probability.
My research is particularly well-suited for undergraduate research projects. If you’ve completed the Calculus series and are interested in pursuing research in these or related areas, please feel free to contact me. I am passionate about advancing research and mentoring students in these fields.
Outside of the academia, I enjoy walking, reading novels, and watching movies—especially horrors, thrillers and comedies. My all-time favorite film is "Up" by Pixar.
