I am originally from Knoxville, Tennessee, and spent my life in Tennessee until 2017. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1994. Nearly 15 years later, my first job in law enforcement was as a police officer with the University of Tennessee Police Department. After spending a year there, I moved into municipal policing as a police officer with the Murfreesboro Police Department in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. During that time, I held the position of motor officer, worked with the Fatal Accident Crash Team, and attained national certification as a Traffic Crash Reconstructionist.
After moving to Michigan in 2017, I worked for two different law enforcement agencies in the Upper Peninsula. While working in Murfreesboro, I had the opportunity to join the training division. It was there I discovered a passion for teaching and training. I decided to pursue a Master of Arts degree in criminal justice and completed that in 2013 through American Military University. In 2021, I completed a Ph.D. in public policy and administration-criminal justice through Walden University. I held two other full-time teaching positions in Nebraska and Texas prior to making the transition to Trine University.
I am married and have four kids. My older son and daughter both live in the Nashville, Tennessee, area. My son is married and from that marriage I have three grandkids. I also have two younger kids. My wife is from Michigan, and we have a house in the Upper Peninsula. We are delighted to be in northeast Indiana at Trine University.
