I have worked in the IT field for 20 years, holding positions such as network administrator, network engineer, enterprise infrastructure manager and information security officer. I have worked in the consulting, manufacturing, finance, insurance and now higher education workspaces over the course of my career. I am currently the director of the Master of Science in Information Studies program and am responsible for overseeing curriculum development for both the undergraduate and graduate programs within the Computer and Information Technology department of the School of Computing.
I received a bachelor's degree in telecommunications and networking from Purdue University in 2000. I received a master's degree in network and communications management with a concentration in security from Keller Graduate School of Management in 2008. I hold three of the most prominent certifications in Cybersecurity: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). I also have held intermediate-level Cisco certifications in network administration, engineering, security and design.
I moved from industry into higher education to mentor the future leaders of tomorrow in cybersecurity. Cybersecurity is such an important topic, as it can serve to protect the digital services we rely on as we interact more and more in a digital world.
In my spare time, I enjoy archery, playing real-time strategy games, teaching and mentoring others about the latest in cybersecurity, and practicing ethical hacking as time allows.
