I find the latest technology interesting and seek to understand how many devices can be used to improve and empower our lives or even help us procrastinate (from time to time). These systems have evolved: from computers that cost tens of thousands of dollars in the late 70’s to a few hundred today or a map that once unfolded or opened in a book (paper – still exist) and now resides in the palm of your hand (electronic – hope you have a signal). Unlocking these wonders is the realm of engineering, something that I am passionate about.
I came to Trine at the beginning of fall semester 2012 from Michigan′s Upper Peninsula. I enjoy teaching Design Engineering in the Allen School of Engineering and Computing, especially topics associated with manufacturing systems, mechanics, and machine design. I believe in lifelong learning, and went back to graduate school after working for 16 years in industry to earn my PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
I also love spending time with my family (spouse Leah and dog Scout), doing puzzle/thinking games and serving in several organizations, particularly scouting as I am an Eagle Scout.
