In 2004, I graduated first in my class from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. My first job was designing an encryption mechanism for wireless radios currently used by the Department of Defense. After that, I conducted research in artificial intelligence for the National Science Foundation at Michigan State University. I have multiple publications in the field of Swarm Intelligence, and I have had the honor of speaking at various research conferences and universities, most recently the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence.
I taught my first college class when I was just 22 years old, and I immediately fell in love with teaching. As a result, I have been a computer science and math instructor for the last 16 years.
I grew up in Indiana and although I have lived in other places since (like Miami, Florida), the Hoosier State is still my favorite place! Nothing beats a BBQ and volleyball game at Lake Pokagon. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer, basketball, and Ultimate Frisbee as well as spending time with my wife and two children.
Fun Fact: in my spare time, I started a video game development company and published a total of 6 games over the years, some of which were reviewed in PC Gamer and IGN.
