My background is in analytical chemistry. This specific field of interest deals with the chemistry and molecular interactions of molecules at the surface of electrically active materials, such as polymer electrolytes. We use techniques such as atomic force microscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, attenuated total reflectance infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy to learn more about the morphology and composition of the molecules at those surfaces.

As a native Hoosier, I am happy to be back home in northeast Indiana. Growing up in nearby Fort Wayne, I spent much of my youth swimming and fishing in the lakes not far from Trine, and most of my family and friends still reside in the Fort Wayne area.
