The beauty of biochemistry

I have been a faculty member at Trine University since fall 2018. Prior to this position, I taught Organic Chemistry I and Introduction to Organic and Biochemistry at Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Michigan. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Notre Dame, and during my graduate work I specialized in studying the molecular mechanisms by which bacteria achieve resistance to β-lactam antibiotics using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

I enjoy teaching general chemistry courses, but my expertise and passion is biochemistry, due to the elegance and beauty by which organisms carry out their diverse sets of reactions and processes using a relatively limited set of biochemical building blocks. I primarily teach General Chemistry I and II and Biochemistry I and II.

Outside of the classroom, I love watching the Green Bay Packers and playing a variety of sports, including tennis, golf and pickleball.
