INDIANAPOLIS — Trine University administrators, members of the cheer and dance teams and even Trine mascot Storm participated in the ICI Day at the Statehouse on March 2.

Sponsored by the Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI), the event was held at the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis and offered an opportunity to educate policymakers about the many benefits of the organization’s member institutions for students and the state as a whole. It also provided college and university leaders the chance to network with lawmakers.

“Private higher education continues to play a key and expanding role in the growth and health of the Hoosier economy and quality of life,” said John Shannon, Ph.D., university provost and senior vice president at Trine University. “We enjoy any opportunity to partner with other institutions to educate and remind lawmakers about the positive impact we all have on the state of Indiana.”

The day also featured a Mascot Meet-N-Greet, with mascots from the institutions, including Storm, taking part in photo opportunities with legislators and other guests.

Independent Colleges of Indiana is the collective voice for excellence and choice in higher education for all students. As a non-profit association, ICI represents Indiana’s 29 private, non-profit, regionally-accredited colleges and universities.
