Cat Benson, dean of Trine University’s Ketner School of Business and director of its
golf management program, was elected the first female president of the Indiana Section
PGA on Monday, Feb. 27.
“I am extremely humbled and honored to have been named the president of the Indiana
Section PGA,” she said. “The Indiana Section is consistently recognized as being one
of the most engaged and active sections of the 41 in the country. To have the opportunity
to work closely with so many tremendous golf professionals is amazing. I hope to provide
outstanding service and foster growth in our section during my tenure.”
Benson was elected to the position by the Indiana PGA Section’s 493 members during
its annual business meeting at the Horizon Convention Center in Zionsville, Indiana.
She will serve a two-year term.
As president, Benson’s duties will include presiding over all Section meetings, appointing
committees and chairpersons, serving as chief spokesperson for the Indiana PGA, representing
the Association at events and with the public, and consulting with the executive director.
She is one of four female PGA Professionals who currently serve as a section president.
Benson became the first female officer on the Indiana PGA Board when she was elected
secretary in 2019. That same year, she was honored with the organization’s Horton
Smith Award, designed to recognize individual golf professionals for their outstanding
and continuing contributions to developing and improving education opportunities for
the PGA golf professional.
