Sporting events’ impact discussed on Trine podcast

Jazmin ZavalaIn the newest episode of Trine University’s Center for Sports Studies podcast, the Visit Fort Wayne Sports Sales Manager, Jazmin Zavala, talks about her day-to-day responsibilities, the economic and cultural impact large sporting events have on Fort Wayne, and how the bidding process works to secure these events.

After a career in sales and customer service, Zavala now uses her skills to help attract large sporting events, such as the NCAA Division III men’s basketball championship, to Fort Wayne. She identifies potential sporting events that Fort Wayne could host and works with multiple partners, from facilities to hotels, to make it happen.

Produced through the Trine Broadcasting Network, the Trine Center for Sports Studies podcast focuses on the business side of sports, including interviews with sports professionals and current research in sports studies. Six Trine University civil engineering seniors and two faculty members toured a cement plant and the Newburgh Lock and Dam, learned about the Ohio River Crossing project and traveled to bridge construction sites during a senior trip in November.
