Wright named Distinguished Student from Trine’s Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences

Andrea WrightAndrea Wright, a biochemistry major from Plainfield, Indiana, is the Distinguished Student for 2023 from Trine University’s Rinker-Ross School of Health Sciences.

Wright was recognized with other Distinguished Students during the university’s honors ceremony on Thursday, May 4.

Wright graduated summa cum laude and will attend medical school at Indiana University in the fall.

She was a two-year captain of Trine’s women’s soccer team, MIAA Senior Sportswoman of the Year and was named to the MIAA academic honor roll for four years. She served as president of Health Science Association, vice president of Theta Phi Alpha sorority, secretary for Order of Omega Greek Honors Society, treasurer for Delight Women's Ministries and a member of Doctors without Borders.

“We should be proud of all our accomplishments and look forward to the many successes to come in the future,” she said. “These past few years have taught us to be resilient when all the unforeseen challenges came our way. As we move into the next chapter of our lives, we will take the resilience we have learned with us.”

Trine chemical engineering students earn national distinctions

Trine University chemical engineering graduate Parker Reichhart has earned national recognition, receiving two awards in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Annual Student Design Competition. The awards were presented during the 2025 Annual Student Conference, held Nov. 1–4 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Amanda Malefyt, Ph.D., professor in the McKetta Department of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering at Trine University, has been elected to serve as a director within the Education Division of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), beginning her four-year term this month.
