Julie Kerins, an accomplished fundraising professional who formerly worked for Trine
University as associate director of alumni events and regional campaign, has returned
to the university as director of development.
In her new role, Kerins will steward major gift prospects, as well as current and
past donors.
She will work with and support the university president, senior vice president/chief
operating officer and team in the Office of University Advancement as they help the
university carry out and expand its mission through fundraising and engagement efforts.
“As Trine University continues to develop new programs and facilities to meet the
needs of our students as well as the businesses and organizations they eventually
will serve, it’s critical that we have a robust network of supporters who share our
vision for making an impact,” said Gretchen M. Miller, senior vice president and chief
operating officer at Trine. “Julie is well-equipped for helping build that network,
bringing a record of success in higher education fundraising as well as familiarity
with Trine University’s mission and vision.”
Kerins had served as senior associate director of development at Kalamazoo College
since 2009, a position she assumed after working previously at Trine.
In that role, she built relationships that resulted in many donors making their largest
gift or commitment to the college.
She particularly excelled in projects supporting Kalamazoo College athletics, including
spearheading a funding project for the complete rebuilding of an athletic field. She
also played a key role in the creation of the Getman Endowment for Equity in Women’s
Athletics, established on the 50th anniversary of Title IX to help support women’s athletic teams in support of the
college’s strategic plan.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in applied
management from Trine University in 2008. She also holds certification in fundraising
management and is a Certified Fundraising Executive.
“With record enrollment, stable finances and a strong vision for the future, Trine
University continues to be a leader in higher education,” said Kerins. “I’m proud
to be back to help the university build on its accomplishments and prepare even more
students to succeed in their careers and lives.”
