Trine updates MSISY, adds artificial intelligence degree

October 16, 2024

Reflecting continued evolution in technology, programming, and network and data management, Trine University has updated its Master of Science in Information Systems (MSISY) degree program and will launch a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence (MSAI).

Classes for both programs will be available beginning in the spring 2025 semester.

“The need for well-trained professionals in technology, and particularly in artificial intelligence, is exploding as new applications and systems become more embedded into our everyday lives,” said Shannon Crowder, academic director for the programs. “These new and updated programs will help meet that need and equip our graduates for successful careers in these areas.”

The new MSISY degree will offer specializations in artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity and cloud computing.

The program equips students for executive-level careers in technical fields. This program prepares graduates to transform organizations and optimize business value from technologies and processes including network management, database administration, application development, web services, systems engineering and cloud-based information systems.

Offering a multidisciplinary curriculum that combines computer science, mathematics, statistics and cognitive science, the MSAI is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and expertise to excel in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.

The program provides students with a deep understanding of key areas such as AI algorithms, machine learning techniques, natural language processing and computer vision. It also emphasizes ethical considerations in AI development and deployment, ensuring that graduates are equipped to navigate societal implications of AI.
