Trine University has promoted Kayla Warren to the new role of senior vice president
and chief financial officer.
She previously served the university as vice president of finance, a position she
had held since 2021.
“Kayla’s institutional knowledge, leadership and financial acumen has continued to
keep Trine University’s financial position strong during an era of economic instability
and enrollment drops across the spectrum of higher education, and I know she will
bring the same skill and dedication to her new responsibilities,” said Earl D. Brooks
II, Ph.D., Trine University president. “Kayla continues to be deeply invested in her
alma mater and is constantly looking out for what is best for the university and its
students.”
In addition to responsibilities for the university’s financial planning, budgeting
and reports, accounting and business operations, and audits, Warren will now oversee
and direct housing and residence life.
She will continue to work with university leadership to develop strategic plans and
policies, direct the university’s budget development process, monitor annual revenue
and expenditures as well as future financial commitments, oversee university investment
activities and monitor contractual relationships. In addition to the Business Office,
she will continue to oversee information technology, campus operations, the Thunder
Ice Arena and Zollner Golf Course.
“It’s a privilege to be able to continue helping Trine University students receive
the same personal attention and career focus I did,” she said. “I’m excited for my
new role and honored that Trine University has entrusted me with these new responsibilities.”
Warren, a 2006 alumna of the university, joined Trine as controller in 2016. She became
assistant vice president for finance at Trine in 2020.
The university honored her with its Outstanding Young Alumnus/ae Award in 2023.
Warren serves on the Audit Committee for the Independent Colleges of Indiana.
She was named to the board of the Steuben County Community Foundation in 2019 and
to the Board of Directors of Farmers State Bank and FS Bancorp in 2023. She lives
in Steuben County with her husband Noah, who serves as Trine’s assistant athletic
director in charge of operations, and their two children.
She also coaches area youth softball and basketball teams for local elementary schools.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in business administration with a major in accounting
from Trine and completed additional coursework to meet the requirements for the CPA
exam at Purdue University in 2007. She has been a certified public accountant in Indiana
since 2010.
