Wendy Wendroff, a 1982 Trine University graduate, was recently honored through the
naming of Alpha Kappa Psi’s business fraternity’s professional center in Noblesville,
Indiana.
The building, now named Howell + Wendroff Professional Center, is named in honor of
Wendy Wendroff, as well as her husband David Wendroff, Eileen Howell and Scott Howell.
“We are rarely speechless,” said Wendroff in regard to hearing the professional center
would be named in her and her husband’s honor. “The notice is largely for our time
that we have given to [Alpha Kappa Psi]… but we were just speechless.”
Wendroff became a collegiate member of the fraternity during her junior year at Tri-State
University, now Trine University.
“To describe in terms those not in Greek life understand, we are like a club but conduct
rituals like a fraternity,” Wendroff stated of the fraternity. “There weren’t any
sororities when I was in school, but [Alpha Kappa Psi] had men and women on equal
footing.”
Over the past 44 years, Wendroff has remained committed to working with the fraternity
in a variety of capacities.
“I serve on a volunteer basis,” Wendroff continued. “I’ve had multiple roles…I’m now
the regional director for volunteer development in the Southeast region of the U.S.
and have served as the convention chair for 24 years.”
In addition to her continued volunteer work with Alpha Kappa Psi, Wendroff also has
utilized her Trine University degree in her professional life. Wendroff served in
transportation management for a trucking company, as well as a variety of administration
and office management positions.
“I love being organized and putting systems in place so things flow nicely, ” said
Wendroff with a laugh. “[These positions] allowed me to do that…I’m now semi-retired,
so I can devote more time to [Alpha Kappa Psi].”
While Wendroff graduated as a transportation major, the major is now under the category
of business administration.
Outside of her volunteer work with Alpha Kappa Psi, Wendroff works on a semi-retired
basis doing bookkeeping for several small, family-owned businesses. She hopes to one
day be able to reopen a chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi at Trine University and rekindle
their connection.
