Emily Hess, of Loramie, Ohio, receives a $5,000 scholarship from Kermit Buntrock during
the Investment Casting Institute conference in Milwaukee.
A Trine University biomedical engineering major recently received a $5,000 scholarship
through the scholarship/intern program sponsored by the Investment Casting Institute
(ICI).
Emily Hess, of Fort Loramie, Ohio, received the scholarship from Kermit Buntrock,
whose Buntrock Industries sponsored the award, during the ICI’s conference, held Oct.
20-23 in Milwaukee.
The scholarship is awarded to juniors or seniors with a minimum grade point average
of 2.75 who are majoring in engineering and technology, business and personnel, or
environment and safety at a North American accredited college or university.
Applicants must write a 500-word essay about their internship experience. Hess has
interned twice at Zimmer Biomet in Warsaw, Indiana, and will return for another internship
next summer.
Hess found out about the scholarship through a coworker at Zimmer Biomet.
“I am incredibly thankful to the Investment Casting Institute and Kermit Buntrock
for the scholarship!” she said. “I also want to say thank you to Zimmer Biomet, not
only for my amazing internship experience but also allowing me the opportunity to
attend the ICI conference in Milwaukee!”
