Book Night distributes 2,500 books, raises $400 for Turning Point

November 02, 2026

The Trine University and Steuben County communities came together to enjoy books and provide $400 in cash donations to Turning Point of Steuben County at the university’s annual Book Night on Oct. 14.

Four hundred people attended the event, held in the T. Furth Center for Performing Arts, and 2,500 books were given away.

“It was unbelievable to see hundreds of students and people from the area come and bond over their love of books, while supporting such an amazing organization,” said Olivia Martenies, an English and communication major who helped organize the event along with other members of the university’s PR Planning and Campaign class. “Events like this remind me how close and supportive the Angola community is!”

The class presented a check to Mary Suffel, case manager at Turning Point of Steuben County, on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

Turning Point provides those facing homelessness or housing instability with the tools to become self-sufficient.
