Since he first heard that Trine University had a campus in Detroit, Michigan and that it was offering analytics programs, he knew it would be a great fit for him as an employer. He was overjoyed when he got the call to teach courses and impact student lives when he started with Trine in the fall of 2023, but his story doesn’t start there.

Trico Lutkins worked in the automotive field since 2005 in various management level positions. From 2015 until leaving the industry to pursue a career in academia, he worked for an automotive information company as a data analyst where he was instrumental in training the mapping and content analysts at the Hyderabad office in India.

Professor Lutkins received an MA in History and a MFA in Writing before realizing his aptitude for data analytics, which led him to pursue a MBA in Business Analytics. His passion for learning is almost as deep as his passion for teaching, so he’s currently working on a PhD in Business Analytics and Data Science.

The soon-to-be Dr. Lutkins has taught a wide variety of college level courses since 2017 including statistics, data visualization, data analytics in business, operational analytics, strategic management, technical writing, business writing, Microsoft Applications, and business sustainability. He was awarded the Vince Linder Teaching Excellence Award and nominated for the Jackson College Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award in 2022.

Also, I enjoy sharing my experience in the industry with my students. Also, with my background in writing and operational management, I teach a lot of sections of the Operational Analytics course in our master degree program.
