Eva Morales is working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Goshen in the Medical/Surgical Unit this summer. During her internship, Eva is hoping to gain the experience of providing direct patient care.

In her role as a CNA, Eva interacts with patients, provides care and identifies the care plan as directed by the RN to assist with their activities of daily living.

"My work involves six- or 12-hour shifts in which I document the care that I provide using patients' charts," said Eva. "I also work one-on-one with the RN to help my patients with their activities of daily living. This involves a lot of teamwork to provide the most comfortable care for our patients."

Eva shares that Trine prepared her for this role by motivating her to pursue an internship opportunity that involves direct patient care.

"As a direct admit pre-PA student, this is important for my future as a healthcare provider. The courses at Trine have also prepared me for the rigor of obtaining my certification."

Eva notes that her internship has allowed her to become more confident when working in a healthcare setting. It has also shown her the importance of decision-making when it comes to the care of her patients, and has made her value the teamwork involved in the healthcare setting.

"I would like to say that healthcare providers, like RNs, have made a huge difference in my life," said Eva. "Their contribution everyday is amazing, and I hope to be like them one day!"
