During Logan Neil’s undergraduate studies, he often competed against Trine University in athletics.

He noticed a distinctive atmosphere associated with Trine.

“I was always impressed with the quality of the university and the character of the people I interacted with. I saw the unique opportunity to be part of the first physical therapy class and decided Trine was a great fit,” said Neil.

Neil came to Trine University for his graduate education and earned a doctorate in physical therapy in 2017. He now works as a physical therapist at Orthopedic Associates of Michigan in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In the outpatient setting, Neil is able to serve a variety of patients. “I have the opportunity to work with the geriatric population, athletes, weekend warriors, and everyone in between,” said Neil.

Neil has been able to enjoy the positive nature of physical therapy.

“Patients come to therapy with injuries, pain, and dysfunction. These physical ailments take an emotional and mental toll. Most patients leave therapy with less pain, improved function, and a greater sense of optimism about their future,” he said.

He added that one of the greatest strengths of the doctor of physical therapy program at Trine is clinical education.

“Students are exposed to real-world situations the very first week of class. Certain skills and lessons simply cannot be taught in the classroom. I developed as a student, clinician and professional during those clinical experiences,” said Neil.
