I have more than 20 years of experience in government, consulting, and university teaching and research. Since my first transportation engineering class, I got excited about the transportation system. I was always wondering how we can coordinate vehicle like a murmuration of starlings that amaze all. As a transportation engineer, you are not confined to an office, but you can be if you want.
After I graduated as a civil engineer, I worked in the field on projects related to construction, structural, water resources, and transportation engineering in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, but I was always excited to work in transportation engineering projects. The ultimate reward for me as a transportation engineer is making direct improvements in the lives of other people while facilitating the efficient, safe, and convenient flow for all road users on our transportation network. This passion led me to dive deeper and get an MS and a Ph.D. in civil engineering/transportation engineering and then licensure as a professional engineer (PE) in the same domain.
Transportation engineering has been and will be a high in-demand, advanced domain, and diverse field. I am a licensed Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) pilot (drone pilot) by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This advanced technology creates an amazing addition to different fields, especially the transportation engineering domain, by conducting several significant related tasks safely and efficiently without interrupting traffic flow.
The "Aha!" moment is what motivated me to teach. When students are first exposed to a new concept and connect all the dots that make them see connections between the content and their life, it represents a stimulating moment. Joining Trine University provides me an opportunity to live these enjoyable moments with my students while they gain the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their goals.
Off-campus, I spend most of my time with my family. I enjoy reading, woodworking and flying drones in lovely weather.
