Summary 

The Franks School of Education at Trine University invites applications for a full-time assistant/associate professor of education beginning August 2024. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teacher education, an understanding of current research in teacher education, and a passion for collaboration with colleagues and P-12 school partners.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses related to curriculum and instruction for elementary and/or secondary education majors. Position also includes academic advising and supervision of field experiences and student teachers.

The Franks School of Education has a long tradition of preparing future teachers. The program positions teacher education graduates to be effective P-12 educators through the incorporation of extensive clinical experiences and utilization of performance-based measures for assessing teacher candidates’ readiness. 

Trine University is a private, teaching-focused institution. Faculty expectations are split into 80% teaching, 10% scholarship/professional development, and 10% service. A standard teaching load for faculty is 12 credit hours per semester. Service to the department and the university is highly valued.

Experience and Education

Doctorate preferred, master’s required with a minimum three years of U.S. public school teaching experience and a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level. Successful teaching demonstration required.
