Director of Admission – Business Administration programs- Detroit, MI

Detroit, MI

Summary

The Director of Admission has the responsibility for supervising, maintaining and planning the day-to-day admission operations for their assigned academic programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports directly to the A.V.P. for CGPS and is largely self-supervising and independent as it relates to development of recruitment strategies to lead to enrollment growth. The Director of Admission has the responsibility of attracting and recruiting qualified undergraduate and graduate candidates who meet the admission requirements of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies along with the development, implementation and management of specific recruitment-related programs. Working with the A.V.P. for CGPS, Senior Director of Graduate School, and Academic Director, the Director of Admission has the authority to negotiate memorandums of understanding, programmatic offerings, scheduling, training and development opportunities with the leadership of regional community colleges; presidents/vice presidents/directors of human resources at corporations, manufacturing centers, small businesses, etc.

The Director of Admission has the autonomy to build both a daily and long term schedule for appointments with individuals and groups externally from the office as well as setting appointments with business and organizational leaders. A primary responsibility is one-to-one recruitment of prospective students within the region for all CGPS programs, from inquiry to enrollment, and the Director of Admission may exercise independent discretion and judgement to accomplish these tasks. The Director of Admission assists program specific candidates in completing the application, acquiring the necessary documents required for admission into the school, and guiding them on financial aid availability and processing.

Working with the A.V.P. for CGPS and the Academic Director, the Director of Admission annually develops, implements and manages a promotional budget. Annually, along with close consultation with the Academic Director, the Director of Admission is responsible for providing the A.V.P. for CGPS with a comprehensive marketing plan to recruit new students for their assigned academic programs, which thoroughly analyzes and assesses the Trine regional market and concludes with the Director of Admission’s realistic and “stretch” goal projections for each of their assigned programs. It is from this invaluable exercise that the Director takes ownership of achieving academic program enrollment goals, thus ensuring the viability of the college’s expenditure on faculty and staff. The Director of Admission will also develop, along with the Academic Director, a regular course of action to retain currently enrolled students.
