The Opportunity

The position of Program Director reports to the Dean or Vice President of the College of Health Professions and leads administrative aspects of the program including assignment of teaching loads and supervision of the medical director,  faculty and program personnel. The Program Director will provide service to the university, community and the PA profession, while fully supporting Trine’s mission of preparing students to succeed, lead, and serve.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program organization and administration
    • supervise the medical director, principal and instructional faculty and staff in activities that directly relate to the PA program
    • oversee the program’s student admissions process including selection of applicants
  • Fiscal management of the program, including:
    • preparation and management of the annual program budget
    • collaboration with University administration in grant procurement
  • Continuous programmatic review and analysis
    • assessment and analysis of data to improve instructional and program quality, to implement the program’s strategic plan
  • Adherence to University goals, standards and policies as well as ARC-PA Standards and ARC-PA policies
  • Program accreditation processes
    • completion of ARC-PA required documents
  • Program planning and development
    • coordination with program faculty to design, implement, evaluate and revise a competency-oriented curriculum
  • Recruitment efforts and appointment of academic and clinical personnel
  • Devote at least 80% of a 12-month appointment to academic and administrative responsibilities.
  • Additional duties and assignments as prescribed by the Dean and/or the Vice President of the College of Health Professions
  • As Faculty:
    • Will provide excellence in teaching, with interest in both their students and their subject matter (see MPAS Program Faculty Position Description)
    • Will teach 6- 9 credit hours per 12-month contract.

Education and/or Experience

  • Must be a physician assistant with a master’s degree (doctorate preferred), be eligible for licensure in Indiana, and hold a current or emeritus NCCPA certification.
  • Must possess at least three years of full-time higher education experience at the time of appointment
    • The program director must have a minimum of three (3) years of clinical practice as a PA with a record of excellence
  • Must not be the medical director.
  • Must provide effective leadership by exhibiting:
    • responsiveness to issues related to personnel
    • strong communication skills
    • proactive problem solving
  • Proven effective leadership and management in an educational setting, preferably in medical or PA education with preference for experience with PA program development and ARC-PA accreditation

Salary

The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
