Summary

Coordinator of International Services supports the Office of International Service’s mission by ensuring that graduate international students and scholars receive the support services that meet their distinctive needs. The Coordinator assists in organizing and supporting graduate orientation and programming for Trine’s graduate international student and scholar community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Senior Director and International Admissions Directors to coordinate orientation dates for new international students;
  • Manage, update and publish the annual international student handbook;
  • Help oversee International Student and Scholar website, monitor and respond to multiple email channels, participate in live chats, and manage processing of folders for Registrar’s Office;
  • Partner with Campus Safety for processing of new Student IDs;
  • Participate in ongoing DSO activities, including processing of I-20s, SEVIS registration, updating change of address, adding SEVIS IDs in Jenzabar, processing proofs of residency, and other duties as assigned;  
  • Work with Business Office regarding payments and student accounts;
  • Assess programs by facilitating focus groups and online surveys to ensure the mission of supporting international students’ and scholars’ needs;
  • Collaborate with OIS, campus partners for continued community relations building and programming;
  • Organize and collaborate with various university departments, both academic and administrative;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.  Experience in higher education administration or organizational leadership or programming is preferred. 

Must possess experience that demonstrates sensitivity to and acceptance of personal and cultural differences in people, and the ability to relate well to students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to lead a group, facilitate discussions and events, plan and execute programs, secure cooperation from individuals and organizations, and coordinate the activities of such individuals and organizations. Ability to express him/herself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Proven organizational skills and attention to detail is critical.

Other desirable qualifications for the position include an academic specialization with an international focus such as cross-cultural communications; proficiency in one or more foreign languages; study, employment, or residence in another country or extensive travel outside the United States; experience designing training programs; knowledge of F-1 and J-1 SEVP regulations.
