International Student Advisor and Internship Coordinator

Summary

This position reports to the Assistant Vice President of International Services and Global Partnerships. The International Student Advisor and Internship Coordinator oversees operations at the Phoenix location, assists with faculty needs, maintains office hours when classes are in session, oversees Trine’s curricular practical training (CPT) program, and advises international graduate students enrolled at Trine University. This position serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and is the Arizona statutory agent for Trine University. The International Student Advisor and Internship Coordinator may also support partnerships, recruitment, and other initiatives as needed for Trine University at the Phoenix, Arizona location.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Functions as a DSO (Designated School Official) and liaison to SEVP (Student Exchange Visitor Program) processing and updating I-20 forms.
  • Works closely with the Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and other OIS staff to ensure CPT and visa regulations are followed.
  • Stays abreast of SEVP/DHS/USCIS regulations to appropriately advise F-1 international students and F-2 dependents.
  • Oversees the Curricular Practical Training (CPT) program at Trine University, including ensuring students continuously meet F-1 visa requirements.
  • Processes CPT applications and appropriate paperwork.
  • Provides assistance to faculty members related to paperwork, technology, and any additional services offered at Trine University’s Phoenix Education Center.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations (weekends may be included) at the Phoenix location and serves as the emergency contact for all Phoenix location related issues.
  • Participates in recruitment events and activities with the Office of International Services and Global Partnerships to attract and retain students.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education / Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preference given to detail-oriented individuals with degrees in the fields of international studies or education, knowledge or experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), and ability and desire to work with students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.    
  • Other desirable qualifications for the position include proficiency in one or more foreign languages; study, employment, or residence in another country or extensive travel outside the United States; knowledge of F-1 SEVP regulations. Computer skills are required.
