Wentworth, Spurgeon promoted

Trine University has promoted two longtime employees in its Campus Operations department.

WentworthNick Wentworth has been promoted to assistant director of Campus Operations. Wentworth has worked at Trine for 22 years and received construction and turf management degrees from Tri-State University. He was promoted to assistant grounds superintendent in 2005 and to grounds superintendent in 2013.

In addition to managing the care of the university’s athletic fields, main campus and golf course grounds, Wentworth’s new role as assistant director will include: university fleet repair, safety training coordinator, snow removal, landscaping, department environmental compliance and Trine/Angola City Municipal Storm-Sewer System (MS4) representative. Wentworth also serves on the university’s Tree Campus USA committee.

SpurgeonRichard Spurgeon has been promoted to plant operations and maintenance supervisor of campus operations.

Spurgeon has been employed at Trine for 20 years. During his tenure, Spurgeon has worked in the grounds, plant operations and maintenance departments. Spurgeon operated the university’s boiler plant after obtaining his boiler operator certification. In addition to boiler plant operation, Spurgeon serves as the lead plumber, Energy Management computer lead operator and lead lock shop technician. In his new role, Spurgeon will continue to serve in these lead roles and supervise the daily operation of the plant operations and maintenance department.
